Where Arts meet STEM

Learning Blackfoot or Cree and how to program Oculus VR app/games

IndigeSTEAM, Colouring It Forward Reconciliation Foundation and Red Iron Labs are pleased to offer a new course that engages youth to learn an Indigenous language (Blackfoot underway.  Seeking Cree instructor!) alongside putting their language learning to use right away by also learning to program an application or game for Oculus Quest 2 as a way to teach others through story telling and visual content.

The VR course will run:

January through May, 2022.  Online. For those keen on art, learn digital media design and animation for VR.  For those keen on game/app, learn coding for Oculus VR.

Course materials are provided under "Resources".  Live tutorials on certain Saturdays.  Register for access to tutorial dates and recordings and extra mentor help.

Open to those in junior and senior high. Both Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth are welcome as a wonderful way to begin Walking Together.

We are hoping you will show off your app or game at our Spring 2022 Robot Powwow!

PARENTS:  You are welcome to join your youth and learn a language along with them.
