Robot Powwow - Team Registration

2023 Robot Pow Wow

Robot Pow Wow

What do you do at a robot Pow Wow?

We show off our robots to each other and our families and what we have programmed them to do.  We do dances and drumming and hold a parade.  We challenge our robots to do tasks like barrel racing.  We decorate our robots with feathers and jingles and ribbons.  We eat a great meal together.  We could even hear a great talk about robots and careers with robots.  Parents and grandparents should come and see - and you can make THEM drive a robot.  Here is a story to show you what a robot pow wow is.

What about a demolition derby?   What about a Lego Indian Relay? Does it all sound fun?

In May 2019, IndigeSTEAM hosted its first Robot Pow Wow.  Youth from Calgary, Tsuut'ina, Kainai and Siksika joined for a day of building, driving, programming and then showing off their robots.  We so missed doing this in 2020 and 2021 that we can barely wait to start building for 2022!  We want even more teams to join!  Build a team in your community, reserve or school.  Find a friend or two.  Find an older youth or adult to be a coach.

Registration is open for Indigenous youth, reserve schools, reserve or urban Indigenous community groups.  Book IndigeSTEAM to come to your community to do two day robotics workshops as part of your summer camp programs!

Robot Pow Wow in April , 2024.  More details will be posted here as they are ready to share.  Sign up here to stay informed!
