Adult Tipi Paint Nights

Adult Mini Tipi Paint Nights

You've heard of Paint Nights, yes?  Well ours are fun, a great learning experience, and your participation will support IndigeSTEAM.

Mini tipi paint nights are a great way to

  • Explore your artisitic side
  • Learn from an Indigenous Artist-in-Residence
  • Socialize with your friends
  • To really understand what STEAM means
  • Learn some Indigenous culture from Indigenous instructors
  • Meet Indigenous people
  • Support IndigeSTEAM's youth programs
  • Visit a new part of Calgary perhaps

You will receive a mini tipi canvas, poles and pegs (Ok, twine and toothpics) and mat to try setting up your mini tipi. Brushes are supplied.

Once you know how to set it up, you can take it down, make your design and paint.  And to add to your STEAM fun, you will be making your own paint.

This workshop combines IndigeSTEAM's two favourite workshops: The Math and Engineering of a Tipi and The Biology and Chemistry of Paint.

Brendon Many Bears is from Siksika First Nation and lives in Calgary.  In addition to working for IndigeSTEAM as our Artist-in-Residence, he is currently working on his online business selling prints, stickers and doing commissions.  You can find him on Etsy under Burliest Bear.

Brendon has been doing some archeology work with Siksika Archeology Field School and has enjoyed learning more about the Tipi from Knowledge Keepers and Engineers.  Brendon is the main presentor for our Adult Mini Tipi Paint Nites.
