Robot Powwow - 2024

2024 Robot Pow Wow

Robot Pow Wow

Welcome to the IndigeSTEAM Robot Pow Wow! Our event is a celebration of robotics, creativity, and Indigenous culture, bringing together youth from diverse communities for a day of innovation and fun.

At a Robot Pow Wow, participants showcase their robots and the programming they've created. The event includes dances, drumming, a parade, and challenges like barrel racing for the robots. Participants decorate their robots with feathers, jingles, and ribbons, adding a touch of Indigenous artistry to their creations.

The day is filled with excitement as teams compete in friendly competitions and share their love for robotics with each other and their families. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend and can even try driving a robot themselves!

In May 2019, IndigeSTEAM hosted its first Robot Pow Wow, bringing together youth from Calgary, Tsuut'ina, Kainai, and Siksika for a day of building, driving, programming, and showcasing their robots. We missed hosting the event in 2020 and 2021.

We invite everyone to join us in this celebration of technology, creativity, and Indigenous culture. Build a team in your community, reserve, or school. Find a friend or two. Find an older youth or adult to be a coach. Registration is open for Indigenous youth, reserve schools, reserve, or urban Indigenous community groups.

Additionally, IndigeSTEAM offers workshops for Indigenous youth, reserve schools, and community groups. You can also book us to come to your community to do two-day robotics workshops as part of your summer camp programs!

Join us for a day of innovation, creativity, and community at the next Robot Pow Wow. It's an event not to be missed!
