Indigenous Engineering Inclusion attends the Singularity U Canada Summit in Edmonton, AB

I was honoured to be invited to attend the Singularity U summit by Holly Cooper at ATB Financial as a community partner. Singularity University based out of Silicon Valley is not your average University. It is a tech and innovation hub that is at the forefront of exponential technologies, connecting leaders and innovators to a global ecosystem. As someone who has spent the past 20+ years in Alberta’s oil and gas industry, and only the past two years exploring innovation ecosystems and the future age of tech, I was catapulted into a new way of thinking!

This event welcomed over a thousand participants from across sectors to hear speakers and see presentations on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Genetics, and even featured an amazing presentation by a Cyber Illusionist. After just a few hours, it became clear to me that our struggles as an energy industry to digitize records management or connect departments in organizations digitally around Safety and Loss Management Systems needed a complete overhaul in thinking. We cannot spend our efforts working to digitize the status quo. We need to change the way we do business to catch up with, and capitalize on, the technology of today.

I am inspired to learn more about how I can help us embrace a new paradigm, a new perspective in this collaborative, digital age.
