Reconnect & Renew Retreat 2024

Sharing Knowledge and Remembering Spirit in a Digital Age
Adding Indigenous Spirit to Your Business Heart

Retreat days: Dates being Rescheduled
Healing day: Date being Rescheduled

The Reconnect and Renew retreat aims to unite Indigenous and non-Indigenous
people working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
around the following principles:

  • Add “A” for Arts, Architecture, Agriculture, and all Humanities to STEM to make STEAM

  • Reconciliation: Within ourselves, within our communities, within industry

  • Reconnect/Reclaim: With our culture and each other

  • Recharge: Our spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing

  • Reciprocity: With one another to learn and grow together

This conference aspires to foster a supportive community where Indigenous
professionals can thrive in both Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways of being. We
seek to support emerging Indigenous students in STEAM by establishing a network
of mentors with the goal of creating more inclusive and prosperous working
environments for Indigenous professionals. You will discover actionable insights to
promote ReconciliACTION within your own life and career.

Indigenous people are significantly under-represented in STEM/STEAM fields;
IndigeSTEAM is dedicated to providing Indigenous-led and culturally relevant
programming to support a better future for Indigenous youth, their communities,
and under-represented groups. We work to create ethical spaces respecting
Indigenous culture and Ways of Knowing for all to know.

Etuaptmumk, or Two-Eyed Seeing, introduced by Mi’kmaq Elder Albert Marshall,
emphasizes the importance of integrating Indigenous and Western knowledge
systems. This approach helps bridge the gap between Indigenous and Western
perspectives, fostering a more inclusive and diverse STEM/STEAM community while
providing a clearer understanding of the world. This gives Indigenous people more
opportunities to succeed without compromising their culture. Two-Eyed Seeing in all
directions enables Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to walk together,
support each other, and collaborate to build a better future for all tribes of Turtle
Island.

We look forward to your presence at our 2024 Reconnect & Renew Retreat
